About this School
Vision Statement
Mission Valley School: where relationships are fostered between you, the education staff, and the community.  We provide a 21st Century curriculum that is relevant to today's demands, while keeping an eye toward tomorrow's challenges.  A rigorous course of study helps to build the foundation for future success and maintains a strong bond with family.

Curriculum and Programs

Lompoc Unified School District adopted textbooks and materials are provided, as well as supplemental science and math materials.  Parents have access to teacher editions and resource books.

The course of study is consistent with the California Content Standards.  Assignments covering all subject areas are planned with parents and students at the time of the family meetings. Supplemental materials that go beyond the basic curriculum, either philosophically or religiously, are a family matter and are above and beyond the Independent Study Agreement.

Enrollment and Community

Mission Valley School is located in Lompoc, California.  Lompoc is 150 miles northwest of Los Angeles in Santa Barbara County, with a population of approximately 40,000 people.  Lompoc is a rural, ethnically diverse community.  The city has a varied industrial and economic base.  Agriculture, Vandenberg Air Force Base, and Lompoc Unified School District are the primary employers.  A moderate climate, historical points of interest, and agriculture support a strong tourism-based economy.

Mission Valley School serves approximately 75 students as a Independent Home Study School for grades K-12.

School History

Mission Valley School, formerly "The Learning Center," has provided a home study alternative since 2004.
